The Moon-Sighting Committee was established in 2014 by the Shia Muslim Scholars of New Zealand. It offers its services to the believers every month for the crescent.
The Committee announces the beginning of the lunar months based on crescent moon sighting verdict of the jurist who is most followed on a worldwide basis (Marje’ al-ta’efah), Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani and Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Khamenei.
To learn more about the basis for determining the beginning of lunar months and the theory about the unity of horizons, please check the principles and procedures of moon-sighting.
May Allah hasten the Return of Our Master, Imam Mahdi (atfs).
